Pepperoni Pizza Monkeybread

Pepperoni Pizza Monkeybread

What’s better than pizza? Bite-sized pizza balls.

This is by no means a fancy recipe. I started playing around with this recipe a few years ago and it has since become a staple in my household. Plus, I like to make anything ball-shaped so I can make some good old-fashioned Schweddy-ball-style jokes. ‘Cause apparently, I’m 12. Enjoy!

Pepperoni Pizza Monkeybread — What’s better than pizza in ball form?

Pepperoni Pizza Monkeybread
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 stick butter
2 store-bought pizza doughs
8 oz. fresh mozzarella, cut into 1/4″ cubes (or shredded)
12 oz pepperoni
marinara sauce, warmed, for serving

Heat garlic and butter over medium heat just until the garlic begins to brown. Remove from heat and let sit.

Lightly brush the inside of a bundt pan with garlic butter.*

Pull off large marble-sized balls of dough and flatten. Top with a slice of pepperoni and a cube of mozzarella. Wrap the dough around the pepperoni and cheese, pinching well to seal.

When you’re about half way through your ingredients, you should have a full layer. Very lightly brush the pizza balls with garlic butter.

Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

Cover and let sit for 30 minutes, while preheating the oven to 400°F.**

Bake for 35 minutes, until the top is very brown.

Remove from the oven and let sit for 10 minutes before serving with warm sauce.

*I actually don’t own a bundt pan. I always take my 9″ round glass Pyrex baking dish and then put a small Pyrex prep bowl in the middle, right side up. Then I’m able to fill the prep bowl with sauce and it doesn’t even need to come out of the dish for serving.

**If your balls come close to filling the pan to the top, place it on a baking sheet when you put it in the oven. The butter may bubble over and it is a hot mess to clean up off the bottom of your oven. Plus the smoke detectors will start going off and shit. It’s not a pretty scene.
